Satinbook makes booking apps for independent beauty artists — lash, brow and nail studios. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, where it lives, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted.
Who is who
Each studio’s app (for example satinbook.com/bella-brows) is run by that artist. When you book there, the artist decides how your booking is handled; Satinbook stores and processes it for them. For artists’ own accounts and for this website, Satinbook is responsible.
What we collect
When you book with a studio (clients)
- Your name and phone number, and your email if you give it.
- Your booking: the service, the time, the artist, its status, a note you add, and whether a deposit was received.
- Notes the artist keeps about your visits (for example a lash map or allergies you told her about).
- On your own phone only: the list of your bookings and app preferences, so you can manage them without an account.
Artists and studio staff
- Name, email and a password (stored only as a secure hash).
- Everything you add to your studio: services, prices, hours, photos, policies, and payment handles such as a Cash App tag or a Zelle email.
- A notification token for each device where you turn notifications on.
Visitors of satinbook.com
- If you send the “Start your free trial” form: your name, email, Instagram handle, niche and city.
- Anonymous counts — page views and button taps. No cookies, no IP addresses, no tracking across sites.
- Error reports when something breaks in an app: the error, the page and the browser type. They never contain your name, phone or email.
Why we use it
- To make, change and cancel bookings, and to show the artist her schedule.
- To send booking emails — confirmations, reminders and changes — and notifications to the artist.
- So the artist can reach you about your appointment.
- To keep the service secure and to fix what breaks.
We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Where it is stored
- Supabase — our database and sign-in, hosted in the United States (AWS, us-east-1).
- Resend — sends our emails.
- GitHub Pages — serves the website and the apps.
- Apple, Google or Mozilla push services — deliver notifications to artists’ devices.
These providers process data only to run Satinbook. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access is limited to the artist of each studio and to Satinbook for support.
How long we keep it
- Bookings and client details — while the studio uses Satinbook; deleted within 30 days after the studio closes its account, or sooner on request.
- Trial requests from the form — up to 12 months.
- Error reports — 30 days. Anonymous page counts — 12 months.
- Weekly backups — the last 8 weeks.
Your choices and how to delete your data
Email hello@satinbook.com from the email or with the phone number you used, and tell us what you’d like: a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion. We’ll answer within 30 days. You can also ask the artist directly. Artists can ask us to delete their studio and everything in it.
Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have the right to know, correct and delete their personal information, and we honor these requests for everyone.
Payments
Satinbook does not take payments. Deposits and payments go directly from you to the artist through the app you choose (Cash App, Zelle, Venmo and similar). We never see card numbers or bank details.
Children
Satinbook isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above; for important changes we’ll also let artists know by email.
